Friends often ask me when I get time to blog. The truth is I probably don't have time to blog - I just do it when I should be working, cleaning or watching my children.
The 'watching my children' bit is what's causing problems. A few weeks ago I was trying not to cry over spilt milk, yesterday I was having a delightful trawl through my picture file and fiddling online. I could hear my two year old playing happily down the hallway, making truck noises and banging his lego around. I only worry when I can't hear him. Mistake.
For trucks and diggers you need dirt and dirt is what he had.... what a busy, busy boy.
He didn't say much but I could tell he thought it was a fine idea. I have a nasty feeling he might try it again... on the carpet.
Ah. I see he likes to have real props to work with. Wise boy.
ReplyDeleteOh dear. You're not alone. My little one got into the honey jar and smeared it all over the kitchen floor when I was on the phone the other day. Sticky business!!
ReplyDeleteFantastic fun. Lucky it was just on the floorboards - I suspect it wouldn't be quite so satisfying on carpet anyway!
ReplyDeleteWe're having issues with water everywhere lately - yesterday my 2yo put the plug in the bathroom sink, filled it up and started scooping it out on to the floor with wild arm movements. At first I thought "wow - he's washing his hands - great". Until I heard the great slapping sound of the waves hitting the floorboards!
Ha, ha! So funny (not so to clean up). We can't watch over them all the time (helicopter parent alert!) and it's good when they can entertain themselves and play creatively (yes!), so don't feel guilty for blogging - after all your son just provided you with the perfect blog opportunity! Tee hee!
ReplyDeleteAh well, the floor looks very sweepable and it bought you some peace. Your little blue chairs are beautiful. Please make sure no one chops them up for firewood while you're blogging.
ReplyDeleteAren't little boys marvellous ;-) I only get time to blog when my eldest is in school and the 2 little ones are napping, like RIGHT NOW!!! With school hols coming up think I'll be taking a blogging break!
ReplyDeleteAh, yes, a blogger's life can get messy, Ann. The other day while I was wandering through Blogland, Joshua and India sprinkled fairy dust (glitter) all over their carpeted floor and through India's hair. I'm still getting it out...J x
ReplyDeleteHEHE.. ahh two year olds.... so many stories to tell...

Fantastic! I have just hauled a duvet covered in cat sick into the washing machine, glad to know I am not the only one on clean up duty:) He was being rather creative, and at least kids grow up, and become semi tidy (well maybe.....?)
ReplyDeleteEK! That's a lot of dirt! He is soooo cute though, I like his light hair, so sweet!
ReplyDeleteJxx
Whoops... At least you got it on camera!
ReplyDeleteSorry but I am LAUGHING!! tehe I remember similar times in my home, but all involving glitter instead of soil!
ReplyDeleteYou did a beautiful job of capturing the mess!
Yes, they can of do that, don't day? Oh wait! I'm blogging! Can't hear my kids!!! ;-) You have a lovely blog by the way
ReplyDeleteI found your blog via PlumKitchen and have really enjoyed reading it. I too love chocolate and house magazines but feel deflated after reading them since our batch will never be so glam as the pics, I console myself with our sea view and a bar of chocolate though when I feel like that :0)
ReplyDeleteAs a mum of two wee boys I find this hilarious and so boy-ish .. Loved your lead in tag - serial mover etc - now that is me too - from the gulf of carpenaria to now highland living in the blue mnts behind Sydney ... plus a few years in southern NZ where I have left my heart - will go read more now - best le
ReplyDeleteI am laughing my head off! Sorry...I should be more sympathetic. I feel tired just thinking of you cleaning up that dirt! Whenever I think it's ok to leave them be for a little while, something like that happens..Rachaelxx
ReplyDeleteI shouldn't be laughing, but I understand all too well Ann. And thinking on the positive side, it did create another fabulous post for you. xx
ReplyDeleteOh, I just love little boys! My son did exactly the same thing with his wooden Thomas track when he wanted to create a landslide!!! I had literally walked away briefly to put the kettle on...
